TK Home Solutions procurement journey: From complexity to clarity with Unite

As part of TK Elevator, a global mobility leader with operations in over 100 countries and 50,000+ employees, TK Home Solutions designs and manufactures high-quality stairlifts that help people with mobility challenges live independently at home for longer.

Despite its success in manufacturing and innovation, the company's indirect procurement process faced challenges with decentralisation and fragmentation, resulting in inefficiencies and limited economies of scale. This changed when they introduced Unite.

Today, TK Home Solutions benefits from a single, user-friendly procurement platform that puts buyers in the driver’s seat without sacrificing control. The purchasing team has full oversight, fewer suppliers to manage and a scalable setup for future growth, from web access to ERP integration.

Scattered suppliers created operational inefficiencies

Before Unite, TK Home Solutions struggled with a decentralised procurement setup. There was no central purchasing system, limited visibility into spending and too many suppliers. Departments relied on a third party to manually collect requests and place orders. This created administrative overhead, frequent errors and frustrated employees who didn’t know where or how to buy the items they needed.

TK Home Solutions have been supplying stairlifts, through floor lift, home lifts, wheelchair lifts, and lifts of all shapes and sizes for 20 years in the UK.

Following the termination of service by their previous supplier, TK Home Solutions actively sought a reliable partner to provide not just a replacement, but a scalable and future-proof procurement solution.

Unite offered the ideal fit. “What convinced us to choose Unite was the combination of a broad, neutral assortment and a P2P interface that gives us full control over the procurement process – from authorisations to spend transparency and reporting,” says Niek van Dijk, Tactical Purchaser Procurement & Supply Management at TK Home Solutions.

In addition to the broad product range coverage, the ease of use and product availability were also key factors that positively influenced the decision. “The open marketplace concept was particularly appealing, which allows us to manage existing and new suppliers on one platform,” says Niek.

Smooth implementation across factory and office environments

TK Home Solutions implemented Unite's integrated marketplace solution with a phased rollout approach. The company began with one department within their factory, and after a successful introduction, gradually expanded the platform step by step throughout the factory and subsequently into the office environment. Today, employees from R&D to technical services order directly through Unite’s interface.

TK Home Solutions offers high levels of customer service and provide bespoke stairlifts for all shapes and sizes, from curved stairlifts to stairlifts for narrow stairs.

Procurement teams mapped approval structures into the system to maintain full control over spend and, at the same time, allowing internal customers to order independently and efficiently within set frameworks. The process became faster and easier for everyone involved. Unite also offers reliable onboarding and ongoing support, which helped drive adoption early on.

“Unite feels like an extra team member who’s always available,” says Maurits Blom, Manager Procurement & Supply Management, TK Home Solutions

A scalable setup for long-term success

The benefits were observed within a few weeks with Unite offering a powerful platform for their diverse product groups, time saved in the ordering process and increased control over costs and spend.

TK Home Solutions particularly emphasises the reduced supplier complexity. The number of suppliers managed for indirect spend has been reduced to one, despite growing spend, thanks to Unite's single creditor model.

Unite has significantly streamlined our procurement process by providing a single platform where we can compare and order products from different suppliers. This saves time and reduces administrative burden as we have fewer procurement channels to manage.

With Unite, TK Home Solutions found more than a replacement for their previous provider, they found a partner for long-term transformation and scalability.

Looking ahead, the mobility innovator’s primary focus centres on further integrating Unite with their ERP system. Although the company currently uses the platform to manage indirect purchasing and facilitate internal orders, they plan to integrate Unite with their ERP system via PunchOut, which will automate invoicing and budget monitoring in the future. Unite will accompany them on their growth as it can be adapted flexibly from web access and user management to ERP integration.
