WE’re back – and how!

Unite‘s annual We Week welcomed colleagues from around the globe for a week of workshops, networking and celebrating shared success.

Unitees at the We Party

Every year, Unitees from around the world gather to foster and celebrate our ‘we’. This comes in many forms: from workshops and strategy presentations to the Networking Fair and DEI Day (both complete with delicacies from different countries). There were also a variety of team-building activities and collaborative projects.

Around 500 Unitees from 47 countries made their way to Leipzig. Abubakar Javed, Software Engineer from Pakistan, who was here for the first time, had this to say about his experience: "It felt almost surreal, like meeting new people and reuniting with old friends at the same time. I loved being immersed in so many different cultures and connecting with colleagues from various teams and departments. I left with a new sense of camaraderie towards our global family and excitement for the future.”

Mixing business with pleasure

The week started off relaxed, with a short kick-off from CEO Sebastian Wieser and the orga-team, followed by a game night. Then, starting bright and early on Tuesday, the office became abuzz with remote colleagues (re)uniting, new staff photos being taken, workshops getting underway, and, of course, a slightly longer queue for lunch. The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (Employee Resource Group) once again hosted an excellent meet and greet, complete with a quiz and samples of some colleagues' favorite snacks from their home countries.

In the afternoon, things got a little more serious. Board Member Christel Constant presented an update on our company goals, budget and plans for 2025. Inspired and motivated to finish the year strong, and to get started on next year‘s plans, teams then had the chance to meet up for social evenings – or to recover from their jet lag.

Networking with colleagues old and new

Did you know that Unite has hired 80 new colleagues this year? With such a growing team, it’s important to have the chance to get to know other departments and learn about what they do. On Wednesday, each team set up a stand in our marketplace at the Networking Fair to present a few project highlights, which other Unitees could browse at their leisure.

From various locally focused stands (shoutout to the UK, whose stand was voted best of the fair!), to the uber cool German sales team’s pirate vibe (complete with rum balls), and the global marketing team running around rocking some of our branded merch (available at a discount during We Week), the Networking Fair was one of many highlights of the event.

“I’ve been part of the Unite team for just two months, but it feels like so much longer because everyone has been so welcoming,” said Kate Hiller, Marketing Manager in the DACH Marketing Team. “Now that I’ve found my feet’ in my role, so to speak, the Networking Fair and We Week in general provided an excellent opportunity to meet colleagues in person, learn about projects across the company and experience the value Unite places on its employees in a way that just can’t be replicated online.”

The annual We Party

On Thursday, it was finally time for our legendary We Party. Though typically a summer event by the lake, the cooler temperatures didn’t sway us from having the time of our lives at event venue Da Capo in Leipzig. After listening to some opening words to get the party started, we spent the evening enjoying live music, a raffle, delicious food, a photo booth, an open bar, and a very busy dance floor.

“The We Party will remain a memorable evening for me. It was a well-organised event with an incredible atmosphere, and the chance to connect with those we usually see only in 2D and with all the other Unitees,” said Marie David, Marketing Manager from France.

Putting our values into practice

While We Week might sound more play than work, throughout the week, a multitude of workshops, collaborative sessions and board member Q&As were packed in. Both aspects of the event were vital, as aligning with our values isn’t just something we do in our tasks and projects – it’s something we practice in our interpersonal communication and as a community.

After all, we truly do believe in ‘Value added. Value shared!’
