The Unite Academy: a hub for growth and learning

The Unite Academy is a central hub for continuous professional and personal development. Here at Unite, we believe in fostering an environment where employees can expand their professional skills, develop soft skills, and network with peers.

A shared path to success

At Unite, employee development is a collective effort. team leads, HR business partners, and the Unite Academy collaborate to create optimal learning conditions.

Integrating learning into daily work

Learning is a crucial part of our work culture. We’ve made clear agreements to integrate learning into our daily routines. In the IT department, for instance, employees can dedicate 10% of their working time to further training. Additionally, ‘Focus Friday’ applies to all employees, providing a day free from regular meetings to focus on learning and development, and to engage in deep work.

Onboarding

The Unite Academy offers various formats to meet different needs. It’s both diverse and engaging. Our digital onboarding curriculum supports new employees during their initial weeks. It helps them familiarise themselves with Unite's tools and culture, no matter where they are in the world.

Honing soft skills

Our in-house trainers at the Unite Academy offer soft skills training on topics such as communication, conflict resolution, stress regulation and change management.

Interpersonal tensions can often hinder projects and goals. That’s why we train non-violent communication based on Dr Marshall B Rosenberg’s principles, as it creates an active empathic connection between people without anyone feeling left unheard.

Johanna, Team Lead Training & Development, believes that the positive effects on cooperation and the general working atmosphere are already noticeable. Advanced modules ensure that what has been learned is also sustainable in the long term.

Magdalena: I enjoyed participating in the programme

I enjoyed participating in the programme because it was very interactive and engaging. It taught me how I can better understand my peers by focusing on the person's needs. I believe valuing empathy and understanding in our collaborations is essential for nurturing sustainable, positive relationships.

Diversity of learning formats

Different learning objectives require diverse learning formats. That’s why the Unite Academy offers classroom training, e-learnings, blended learnings and peer learning formats. Since the launch of the Academy learning platform in 2020, we’ve produced 200 courses, 150 of which are available online at the moment. Around 70 new courses are added each year and existing courses are continuously updated.

We also offer numerous training courses specifically for managers to further develop their leadership skills.

Sharing and expanding knowledge

Unitees with specialised knowledge are encouraged to share their expertise with others, such as through Learning Coffee formats. To stay ahead of the game, we organise exchange days on trending topics such as AI, where pilot projects are presented and there is ample time for exchange and learning.

Additional offers

In addition to internal training courses, employees can also use content learning platforms to access a wider range of specialist courses after consultation with their managers. External training courses and conferences offer further opportunities to find out about the latest industry trends.
