Payment methods

Depending on the creditworthiness of your company, you can pay on account after receipt of the goods. You will have to take the following steps:

Step 1 - When completing your order, select 'Invoice' and click on 'Send order'.
Step 2 - You will receive an email confirming that your order has been registered with us.
Step 3 - As soon as the items leave the warehouse, you will receive the invoice by e-mail as PDF/XML ("electronic invoice").
Step 4 - You pay the invoice within a 5-day payment period and state the invoice number as the payment reference.

Please note - Mercateo reserves the right not to offer payment by invoice in all cases. This is determined per order and on the basis of a multitude of factors. In the event that you are unable to pay by invoice, you will receive an email requesting advance payment. See the General Terms and Conditions.

At Mercateo you can easily and safely pay by credit card (Visa / Master) which is completely free of charge. Just take the following steps:

Step 1 - When completing your order, select 'Credit card' and click on 'Send order'.
Step 2 - On the next page, enter your credit card details in a secure environment.
Step 3 - You will receive an email confirming that your order has been registered with us.
Step 4 - As soon as your order is shipped you will receive an email and the amount will be charged to your credit card.

Your credit card details are encrypted using the SSL method. Because of this high security standard, buying with a credit card from Mercateo is safe. Your credit card details will not be stored by Mercateo.

If you choose the 'Prepayment' payment method during the completion of your order, you will go through the following steps (iDEAL is not available at Mercateo!):

Step 1 - After clicking on 'Submit order' you will receive an e-mail confirming that your order has been registered with us.
Step 2 - You will receive a second e-mail with Mercateo's bank details.
Step 3 - You transfer the amount using your customer and order number as a payment reference.
Step 4 - Your order will be shipped as soon as we have received your payment. The payment processing time is two to four working days.

Please note - Due to a delay in your advance payment, prices and delivery times may change. In this case, you will be informed.

Payment and return periods

After receipt of the articles you will receive an invoice from us and you have 5 days to pay it.

Did you cancel or return an article or order? As soon as we have processed your cancellation request or your return has been received, the following refund periods apply.

Safety

Mercateo uses an SSL connection (Secure Sockets Layer) for online payments. This means that all the personal data that you entrust to us are encrypted and that third parties cannot access your information. The most important protection is your own password. Never give your password to other people and avoid open access to your My Mercateo account.

Mercateo complies with applicable privacy laws and all legal requirements. Your data will only be used to process your orders and to improve our services. For more details, please visit our privacy statement.

FAQs

Log on to My Mercateo and select the tab 'Order archive’ to see an overview of all orders. You can view and download your invoices from the column 'Invoices'.

If you forgot to mention your payment reference, please contact our customer service. Always mention your order number, customer number and name of the account holder.

Mercateo reserves the right not to offer payment by invoice in all cases. For each order, a number of factors (e.g. your order and payment history) are used to determine whether you can pay by invoice. It is therefore possible that this is not always possible for you, even if this was the case with previous orders. In these cases you will receive an e-mail with the request for advance payment. Please understand our approach to risk management for payments.

If you are paying on account/invoice and you are returning part of your order, you will only have to pay for the goods you kept. Once we received the returned items, we will send you a credit note.

If you paid in advance or by credit card you will receive your money back as soon as we received the returned goods.

You can choose your method of payment during the completion of each order. On the preview page, the default payment method is by invoice, but you can also choose credit card or prepayment.

For each address you can set a different email address for invoices and payment reminders. Just log on to My Mercateo and select the tab 'Addresses'. Click on 'New address', or edit an existing address by clicking on the three blue dots behind the address and selecting 'Edit'. Enter the desired email address at 'Different email address for accounting' and click 'Save'.
