After a thorough review and careful consideration, it’s with a heavy heart that we’ve decided to not continue our business operations in the Czech Republic and Slovakia after the end of 2023. Given below are the reasons for the decision, which we didn’t take lightly.

Business operations in the Czech Republic and Slovakia

Considering the current economic situation, we’ve noticed a gradual decrease in demand for products on our Unite Platform and within our Mercateo B2B Marketplace and Procurement Portal in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. We anticipate this trend to continue persist moving forward and are now drawing the consequences from this development.

We’re adapting our business operations based on how the demand has been evolving in these two markets. Our goal is to ensure we stay competitive and innovative in Europe in the long run.

The resources we’re now freeing up will be strategically reinvested to strengthen our European operations, as we’re truly excited about the growth potential here. Moreover, our commitment to developing our Unite Platform and our range of solutions remains steadfast. This ensures that we continue to cater to our customers’ needs in the most effective way possible going forward.

Our utmost priority is to continue supporting you as a reliable business partner across our other European locations. As we navigate the gradual winding down of our operations in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, our aim is to make this transition as seamless as possible, tailored to your needs.

Operational questions

Orders in the Mercateo Marketplace are possible until 31 December 2023. We’ll process all orders placed before end of business day, 12am CET.

We adhere to the guidelines set out by the EU regarding returns and the associated framework conditions.

We’re processing all orders received by us until and including 31 December 2023. We’re very confident that this will be done smoothly.

Unfortunately, we cannot provide cross-border deliveries. Our systems are designed for domestic transactions only, and we cannot accommodate cross-border shipments or adjust for VAT changes. We appreciate your understanding.

We want to assure you that our business operations in the other 12 Unite locations will continue without interruptions.

Business outlook

We’ve analysed the economic development as well as the demand situation very extensively over a longer period of time. We therefore do not see any indicators in the short and medium term that would support a return to the markets. We’ll keep an eye on these indicators for market exposure in the long term.

We’re fully focusing our resources on the other markets in which we are currently active. We see extensive growth potential here and many opportunities to strengthen our business further and better meet the needs of our customers.

We’re currently not planning to expand into other markets, as our short-term priority is to consolidate our existing markets and leverage the potential. The opening of new markets also depends on the commitment of international customers. Please inform us in which countries you have specific needs. We’ll consider this data when planning our market expansion in the medium term.
