For many Unitees, We Week is one of the highlights of the year. And in 2026, it once again showed why. In the first week of May, colleagues from across the world came together at Unite’s Leipzig headquarters. They travelled not only from across Europe, but also from Vietnam, Nigeria, Pakistan and India to meet in person, collaborate and experience the sense of togetherness that can sometimes be missed in day-to-day digital work.
An opening that brought people together
One of the first memorable moments of the week was the opening at Unite’s headquarters. A paper aeroplane – symbolising how lightness, simplicity and creativity can spark joy – flew over the heads of the Unitees.
To set the tone for the days ahead, everyone was invited to reflect on two questions and then share their thoughts with the person next to them: What are your goals for the week? What do you want to take away from it? It was a simple but effective way to highlight what We Week is all about: curiosity, meaningful exchange, active listening and getting to know one another better across teams and markets.
The DEI Speed Dating session created more opportunities for exactly that. DEI stands for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and these themes were at the heart of the format. Short question-and-answer rounds with changing conversation partners gave participants insights into each other’s personalities and cultural backgrounds. In just a few minutes, people discovered unexpected similarities, heard funny anecdotes and learned something new about colleagues they may not have known well before.
Community matters - especially in difficult moments
Just a few hours later, the mood of the week changed. The news of the car-ramming attack in Leipzig city centre on Monday afternoon affected us deeply. We were all the more relieved and grateful to know that all Unitees were safe. The events were a powerful reminder of how important it is to look out for one another and be there for each other.
Networking along the customer journey: Attract, Engage, Delight
Another highlight of the week was the Networking Fair on Wednesday afternoon in the Marketplace at our headquarters. For 3 hours, the focus was on strengthening connections between teams across Unite.
This year, the format followed the customer journey for the first time. Organising the teams into the phases Attract, Engage and Delight helped make visible how each team contributes along the customer journey and how the different areas build on one another. The Corporate Functions teams also had their own stand to show how they support other departments across the business.
Creative games and tasty snacks served as welcome icebreakers throughout the event. The format helped make responsibilities more transparent, connections easier to understand and synergies more visible.
Both long-standing Unitees and brand new colleagues benefited from the fair. In many conversations, you could hear people say: “Ah, that’s interesting, I’ll take that with me.” For many, it was also a genuine reunion. With colleagues based across many markets, people often only see each other regularly when they are working on the same project. That made the opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces, build new links and strengthen existing relationships all the more valuable. New Unitees, meanwhile, gained a quick and personal introduction to the network and a clear sense of how Unite works together.
Space for innovation: A hackathon across departments
Another new feature this year was the cross-departmental hackathon on Tuesday, which ran with no fixed end time. From 11 submitted ideas, 4 groups formed to develop their concepts further.
More than anything, the hackathon showed how valuable it is to make time for collaboration on innovative topics rather than simply talking about them. Initial results were already presented during the Lunch Pitch on Thursday, and the ideas and outputs are now being taken forward.
Team spirit on the pitch: Unite Network Cup
Of course, We Week was not only about workshops and collaboration formats. Team spirit is just as much a part of Unite’s culture. That was clear to see at the Unite Network Cup on Tuesday evening, where 6 teams competed against one another. In the end, FC Feierabend claimed the win.
We Party at Täubchenthal
And naturally, there was time to celebrate too. More than 400 Unitees followed the invitation to Täubchenthal Leipzig under the motto “We Rock”.
Once the dance floor began to fill, one thing became clear: a successful summer party does not depend on perfect weather or bright sunshine. What matters most is a strong sense of togetherness and good music.
Between the excitement of the tombola, group photos with bold accessories and the occasional drink, the evening passed far too quickly.
We are Unite. And unique.
We Week 2026 will be remembered as a week that, despite mixed weather, was above all intense, connecting and full of lived Unite culture. Because: We are Unite. And unique.
