As a Linux Engineer (gn) in Leipzig, you'll help shape and evolve our Linux infrastructure, which forms the technical foundation of numerous services and applications at Unite. Your daily work bridges the gap between an established system landscape and modern cloud and observability solutions that we are strategically introducing and expanding. You ensure that proven systems run reliably while driving the migration towards contemporary technologies and platforms – through automation, standardisation and a consistent modernisation of our infrastructure. Your focus is on building the bridge between the existing and the future – with an eye on performance, security and seamless collaboration with our development teams and internal stakeholders. Your role

  • You keep the foundation solid: You operate and evolve our established Linux infrastructure – on-premises and in the cloud – ensuring that services and applications run reliably.
  • You drive automation forward: You automate recurring tasks and deployments and ensure reproducible, documented setups – turning manual processes into scalable ones.
  • You create transparency: You monitor our applications and systems using modern observability tools, identify patterns and derive targeted optimisations from them.
  • You connect teams: You work closely with development teams and business units to provide stable, secure and performant platforms that meet the needs of our users.
  • You work smart: You leverage modern tools to accelerate workflows, improve documentation and make troubleshooting more efficient – bringing fresh ideas to the team along the way.

Your qualifications

  • You bring solid Linux know-how: You have hands-on experience operating Linux servers in production environments and a foundational understanding of cloud environments (e.g. AWS) as well as container-based workflows such as Docker or Kubernetes.
  • You have depth in at least one infrastructure area: Whether web servers, mail servers, databases or storage – you bring specialisation and can apply your expertise effectively within our system landscape.
  • You automate with conviction: Ansible is your daily tool – from simple playbooks to reusable roles. You're also comfortable working with CI/CD pipelines and common delivery tools such as GitLab or Nexus.
  • You work with modern tools: You consciously use contemporary tools to design configurations, prepare scripts, accelerate analysis and improve documentation.
  • You're a clear team player: You work in a structured way, take ownership of your topics and communicate confidently – in an international environment where English is the primary language.
